How To Make Your Own Natural Toothpaste

DIY Natural Toothpaste

Returning to my natural roots made me rethink everything I put on my head, in my body, and on my skin.

Although it's not an easy task to go cold turkey and replace years of using store bought products, breaking the transition down into stages definitely helps.  Small changes are better than no changes.

A quick and easy place to begin is by replacing your store bought fluoride toothpaste with natural toothpaste.

Here's my recipe!

  • 1/4 cup aluminum-free baking soda
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin coconut oil
  • 20 drops of peppermint, wintergreen or oregano essential oils

Mix together until a paste forms.  Add more of the baking soda or oil as needed.  Store in an airtight container and you're done!

You now have your very own natural, chemical-free, fluoride-free tooth paste! Yay! 🙂

Now if you are still using toothpaste with fluoride in it because it's "recommended"  please take a moment to research what it is, how it is used and why.  Really, there's no evidence to support that fluoride toothpaste is beneficial and in fact, it does more harm than good to our bodies. You can read more about the dangers of fluoride in this article.

Making your own natural toothpaste is a great way to eliminate toxins from your everyday regimen and your system and besides being healthier, it's cost efficient!

In my recent morning routine post, I covered a couple more ways of using coconut oil (oil pulling & facial cleanse) for a natural beauty routine, along with using the natural toothpaste.  Check out my tutorial on how easy it is to make this simple, natural toothpaste!
